Terms of Service
1. Agreement and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of Edgekin at edgekin.app, the game in the browser and as an installable app (PWA) in its realms, the Chrome extension, and the API they use. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Edgekin is not directed to children under 13. If you are not yet an adult where you live, use Edgekin with the permission of a parent or guardian.
2. What the service does
Edgekin is a cozy game about an island in the sky that you play in a panel beside whatever you are doing: in the browser's side panel through the extension, in a browser tab or as an installed app. The game runs in realms (game worlds) that may differ in rules, content and availability.
3. Accounts and device identity
You start as a guest with an anonymous cryptographic device identity. You can add your other devices to the same account with a pairing code and, when it is available, link a Google account. You are responsible for securing your devices and your Google account, and for activity performed through them. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
Removing local browser data can make a guest identity, and the island that belongs to it, unrecoverable. Adding a second device or linking an account lets you keep the same island on several devices.
4. Game items and payments
Edgekin currently sells nothing. In-game items, resources and progress have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money and are not your property. If paid items are ever offered, the price, the seller and the conditions will be stated in these Terms before you can buy them, and a purchase will start only when you complete the payment yourself.
5. Third-party services
Google (when you link a Google account), the Chrome Web Store and your browser are independent services with their own terms and privacy practices. You authorise us to exchange the minimum data needed for the capability you choose. We are not responsible for a third party's availability, policy changes or actions.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service unlawfully, deceptively or to infringe another person's rights;
- cheat, exploit bugs, or use bots, scripts or modified clients to play;
- probe, bypass or disrupt security, authentication, rate limits or the encrypted channel;
- impersonate another player, or access an account or device without permission;
- use automated traffic that materially harms the service.
If you find a bug or a security problem, please tell us at support@edgekin.app instead of using it.
7. Beta and availability
The game, the realms and the manual Chrome build are in beta: they may contain defects and change. A test realm may be reset, which deletes its accounts and progress. Delays, lost progress and outages can occur.
We may modify, limit or discontinue capabilities or realms, provide maintenance, or suspend access where necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance or service integrity. When practical, we will give notice of material changes.
8. Intellectual property
Edgekin, its software, characters, art, texts and other content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service as provided for personal, non-commercial play; they do not transfer ownership of the service or its marks.
9. Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop using the service and request account deletion. Self-service account deletion is planned; until then, write to privacy@edgekin.app. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, security threat, unlawful use or prolonged operational necessity. Data is deleted or retained according to the Privacy Policy and applicable legal obligations.
10. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis without implied warranties. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, the keeping of progress during the beta or recovery of a guest identity.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Edgekin is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or loss of data or progress. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.
11. Changes and disputes
We may update these Terms as the game and applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and give additional notice when a change materially affects existing players. Changes apply prospectively. Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve it in good faith. Applicable mandatory law and forum rules remain unaffected.
